Worried About The Flu? Homeopathy Can Help!
Dec 2012
Homeopathy is an individualized medicine and when treating a
patient with the flu – any one of a number of remedies may be called
for.
But what remedies are most commonly helpful?
Here is a list of some of the most common remedies to commit to memory:
Aconite: Sudden onset of fever, with chilliness, anxiety and great restlessness. A remedy to consider after patient has been exposed to cold, dry weather.
Baptisia: Rapid onset. Sinks rapidly into stupid state. Dull red face – patient looks drugged and out of it. High temperature with red face. Drops asleep while answering questions. Gastric flu: sudden attacks of violent diarrhea and vomiting. Great prostration.
Bryonia: White tongue. Thirst for much cold fluid. From every movement, every noise, attacked with dry heat. Wants to lie quite still and be left alone. Headaches and pain all the better from pressure and worse from ANY movement. Can have great pain in the head when coughing. Irritable.
Eupatorium perf.: Intense aching limbs and back – as if bones were broken. Can have soreness of flesh. Bursting headache. Dare not to move because of the pain. Shivering; chills in back. Chill begins 7-9:00AM. Eyeballs sore.
Gelsemium: Heaviness and tiredness of body and limbs. Head heavy, eyelids heavy, limbs heavy. Chills in back with the chills and heat that chase one another. Bursting headache, from neck over head to eyes and forehead, relieved by copious urination. No thirst.
Mercurius sol: Profuse and offensive sweat. Very foul smelling mouth. Offensive salivation. Can be worse during the sweating stages. Colds extend to the chest.
Rhus tox: Stiff, lame and bruised feeling on first motion which passes off with continued motion till patient becomes weak and must rest – then restlessness and uneasiness drive the patient to move again. Illness following exposure to cold damp weather; from cold damp when perspiring. Restlessness; intense fever; thirst; great prostration. Can have achiness in the bones as well.
